And another moth 'Lifer' arrives.

Wednesday 16th July 2025.

Some of the macro Moths seen this morning which included two Common Rustics, a Clay and a Bright-line Brown-eye.

A clear blue sky overhead first thing this morning meant that Moth numbers were going to be low this morning despite being mild.

My Moth Box:

The TAWNY SYCAMORE PIERCER moth.

Numbers of Moths dropped again this morning with just 39 moths of 25 species recorded today. Three of those were found when I was watering the garden in the evening (Lesser Yellow Underwing, Single-dotted Wave & Plumed Fan-foot). Easily the pick of the bunch was yet another ‘Lifer’, a the tiny, yet stunning TAWNY SYCAMORE PIERCER that was sat on one of the egg trays within the Box. This was my 33rd new species of moth for my Life List and probably one of the best years ever and it's still only July!

The underrated and attractive Broad-bordered Yellow Underwing.
